Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Holiday Train returns to the rails this holiday season to raise money, food and awareness for local food banks. The dazzling tradition — complete with its glowing lights, holiday decorations, and musicians - will arrive in Hamilton at 7:40 p.m. on Sat. Nov. 23 on the railway tracks at 50 Lawrence Road, south side of Gage Park.
New York-based pop-rock outfit American Authors and Grammy® nominated Scottish Musician, KT Tunstall will headline the show and play a mix of traditional and modern holiday-themed songs to get your family in the spirit of the season. This free, family-friendly concert will even include a special appearance from Santa himself!
CPKC Holiday Train, in partnership with Hamilton Food Share, asks the public to bring cash donations and healthy, non-perishable food donations such as tuna, beans, rice, pasta, cereal and baby food to the event. An amazing group of over 50 volunteers will be onsite to collect donations that will assist 22 emergency food programs (food banks and hot meal programs) in Hamilton.
While waiting for the train to arrive, look for Santa, your favourite Christmas characters and Hamilton sports team mascots, and listen to holiday music presented by 102.9 Bounce.
To ensure public safety during the CPKC Holiday Train event, a section of Gage Avenue South and Lawrence Rd. (from Cumberland Ave. to Rosslyn Avenue South.) will be closed from 4:00 p.m. to approximately 10:00 p.m. During this road closure, only emergency service vehicles (Police, EMS and Fire) and DARTS accessible transit vehicles will be allowed access, all other vehicles will be detoured.
